Description
The Time Zones Clock
It’s a board with 24-hour clock face. It depicts the illumination of Earth from 6am to 6pm. There are holes above the hours to place beads in.
There are four “Earths” (discs) to place on the board – they have meridians every 15 degrees (because one time zone is 15 degrees). Two of them are depictions of the North and the South Pole. Their role is to introduce the world of astronomy to children and to show them which way the Earth revolves around the Sun. They also teach about Earth’s meridians – children can match names of cities (on plates) with them.
As for the two other discs – there are names of cities written on them. The clock tells us what time is it in those cities.
Moreover, if you place beads on the clock, even a small child will be able to estimate the difference of time between cities.
A set consists of:
– the main board: the face of the clock
– two double-sided discs
– plates with the names of cities and their time zones
