Description
The planisphere is comprised of two discs.
One disc (wooden) is completed – constellations are connected and named.
Turn the disc until you find the point around its edge where today’s date is marked, and line this point up with the current time. The viewing window now shows all of the constellations that are visible in the sky. If you face North and hold the planisphere up to the sky, the stars in the viewing window should match up with those that you see in the sky.
The second disc (blackboard) has holes for observation and can be drawn onwith chalk marker. You can also light it up with a flashlight to create a projection of starry sky.
Caution! Use only dry erase chalk. Clean with a damp cloth only – do not use running water.
